
The Jenks Fire Rescue was established in 1923 with 9 volunteer firefighters.
The Jenks Local 2567 was established in 1977 with 8 Professional Firefighters.
Station 1 at 205 N. Elm St. was built in the early 50's with reconstruction in 1986 and in 2008. Station 2 at 1115 W. 121st St. was built in 2006.
When Station 2 opened in April of 2006, 9 more full time firefighter were added to make the total number of Professional Firefighters in the City of Jenks, 18.
Each Fire Station has a compliment of 9 fulltime firefighters that include 1 Captain, 1 Driver, and 1 Firefighter per shift, per station. There is a 3 shift system (A, B, C shifts) each shift is 24 hours in length, starting at 7am and ending the following morning at 7am.
Minimum staffing for Jenks Engine companies is 2 personnel which must include 1 officer (Captain or Driver). The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) recommends a minumum of 3 personnel per engine company for adequate fire suppression.
On any given day there may only be 4 firefighters on duty in the City of Jenks, due to vacation, sick time, or injury leave.
